Tea of the Week – Blueberry White by Adagio Teas

This lovely tea from Adagio teas comes in a silky pyramid bag sealed in a plastic pouch for freshness. This has a base of white tea, which as you may know is made of the very newest leaves and buds of the tea plant, only lightly air-dried and not oxidised or processed in any way. The white tea is enhanced with natural blueberry flavouring.

Tasting notes

You can see the whole leaves in the tea bag, indicating that this is a very good quality tea. The scent is subtle but fragrant and kind of ‘grassy’ smelling – common for white or green tea. It makes a light coloured brew that tastes refreshing and very delicate, as white teas often do, and the hint of blueberry is very subtle and natural and lends a hint of tartness. White tea does contain some caffeine but not as much as green or black tea, so you could enjoy this tea in the evening without it causing too much disruption to your sleeping pattern.

Good to know

As white tea is minimally processed, it contains the most antioxidants of all the teas. Antioxidants help protect the body from free radicals, which can damage cells. Some people also have studied the effects of white tea on fat loss, with some promising results.
