Our chosen tea this week is a green tea with lemon, from Taylors of Harrogate. Founded in 1886, Taylors source their teas from independently certified farms and co-operatives certified by the Rainforest Alliance, UTZ, or Fairtrade. Taylors were also certified carbon neutral in 2015. This particular green tea is sourced from Africa, and is paired with a classic lemon flavour in the form of natural lemon zest.
After steeping this tea for the recommended 2 minutes, it becomes clear that this is a traditional green tea – a fairly light coloured brew which emits a soft yet vibrant scent, cut through with the refreshing tang of lemon. A pleasant flavour which pairs perfectly with lemon – there is no need to add anything to this tea unless you really fancy some sugar or honey. As a green tea, this does contain some caffeine so might be best avoided before bed. Other than that, this is a light and tasty blend you can enjoy whenever and wherever you are.
Good to know
Many people enjoy green tea not just for its great taste, but for the numerous health benefits associated with it. Some studies have found that green tea appears to support healthy weight loss, can help to support brain and heart health, and is even thought to be good for teeth due to its natural fluoride content.
